The raucous arrival into Walford and the Queen Vic of the two glamorous nieces of Peggy Mitchell is interesting. It’s almost on par with the death of Bobby Ewin in ‘Dallas’ with the unbelievable stroyline. They arrive for the doomed wedding of Stella and Phil, take command in Peggy’s hour of need and then get control of the pub whilst Peggy, Phil and Ben take a break. I’ve never known so many trusting ‘business owners’ as there are in Eastenders. Most of them let the first person who walks past their stall or business take ‘over’, with no training, whilst they go have a ‘pint’, an argument or ‘a bite to eat in the caff’, handing over all their takings as they leave. It’s a wonder that any of them make a living!!
The two glamorous nieces have never been mentioned or seen before in Eastenders to my knowledge and Peggy didn’t even recognise them at first ,…. but then immediately goes away leaving them to ‘run’ their ‘lucrative’ pub business … it’s just all too daft.
Not only that but their arrival heralds the most ‘bizarre’ advert where the girls are dressed like cowgirls, partying on the bar, with shot glasses in the style of ‘coyote ugly’ watched by the older locals. This advert is so out of context with Eastenders it is laughable. Surely, Eastenders is meant to be a realistic slice of life dealing with current issues dealt to their regular characters whereas this advert is more Dynasty like than Walford worthy.
Update: On the way home last night we saw a poster of the two new girls. One of them was wearing a cowboy hat and tequila shots glasses on a bandelero holding a bottle of tequila.
