We’ve been trying to get my dad to use his mobile phone for ages. Well thank God for Beattie their Border Terrier who not only gives him more exercise than he ever had before but has also found him a use for his mobile phone. When he takes her to a nearby park for a little run around … he rings my mum when Beattie ‘does her business’ on the grass to come and pick it up for him …. hey at least it’s a start.

Just a reminder, the animated film Ratatouille is released on 12th October 2007 and Jamie Oliver will make his film debut as the voice of a morose restaurant inspector!! Sweet revenge for Jamie I should think. Go see it, it’s a great fun movie for the whole family.

Public Lies by Brenda Youngerman is a succinct well thought out page
turning novel. At less than 300 pages it is a nice quick read. She
manages to evoke the characters well. It essentially starts with
Nancy Cooper grabbing her two children and running away from her drug
taking abusive husband Vince, with the help of her family she leaves
town and begins a new life under a new name. Obviously Vince is
obsessed with getting his family back and is in hot pursuit. The plot
has great suspense and a few twists which give the novel great pace
and make the book a good read. It does manage to show just how
ludicrous and arbitrary the family court system can be in an
entertaining and poignant way.
It’s so nice to read a good novel that keeps your attention and does it so well.
