It seems that the studios in an attempt to sidestep the ‘Writer’s Strike’ (WGA) are approaching the UK for writers to continue the production of their shows. I think that any UK Writer who decided to accept such an invitation would be completely mad. The sale of TV Shows on DVD’s and especially via the internet is a growing business and why shouldn’t the Writer’s who create the show get a residual payment from these sales. Often both actors and writer’s rely on residual payments of work they have already done to get them through ‘resting’ periods when they are out of work. The Studios should stop trying to fleece the artists and creators and come to a compromise which is acceptable to both sides. After all without the writers there are no shows!!
