Writer’s Strike in US
Nov

It seems that the studios in an attempt to sidestep the ‘Writer’s Strike’ (WGA) are approaching the UK for writers to continue the production of their shows. I think that any UK Writer who decided to accept such an invitation would be completely mad. The sale of TV Shows on DVD’s and especially via the internet is a growing business and why shouldn’t the Writer’s who create the show get a residual payment from these sales. Often both actors and writer’s rely on residual payments of work they have already done to get them through ‘resting’ periods when they are out of work. The Studios should stop trying to fleece the artists and creators and come to a compromise which is acceptable to both sides. After all without the writers there are no shows!!

Time to go vegetarian

When you are presented with a disease like cancer that threatens your mortality it makes you evaluate everything especially diet. So we are now analysing everything that Andrew eats as food is a predominant factor in colon cancer according to a medical article I read recently in the US.

After reading this article relating to (stage 3) colon cancer it seems that you can reduce the likelihood of recurrence if you change your diet. Foods that are strictly off limits are red meat (no taste the difference fillet steak recommended by Jamie Oliver) , no fries, no calcium or dairy, or processed foods. Foods that will now take their place are vegetables, foods high in fibre and whole grain foods and pulses. In addition, alcohol must be forsaken.

This will be a lifestyle change to promote good health and longevity …..

Waiting
Nov

Once again I am pacing up and down waiting to hear the results of Andrew’s latest procedure. His heart rate became irregular and needed to be shocked back to the sinus rhythm. It is the hardest thing to not know what is happening and whether the procedure is going well or not. All the doctors make it sound very matter of fact. Hey it’s just an electric volt that shocks the rhythm back …. nothing to worry about.

The problem is we cannot help but worry. Wouldn’t you? We do not really know how long it exactly takes, they said it takes a short time but it has already been nearly two hours since the procedure was supposed to start and i’m beginning to feel nervous.

Recently I watched a TV programme where two Brits went and bought a property in France. Even though they had a survey it did not advise them that the house was running alive with termites. Now termites are one of the most dangerous infestations in a house and can render it uninhabitable in a matter of years as they slowly eat into the fabric of it. This poor couple had used their life savings to purchase this property and were advised not to live in it as it was falling down. Obviously they could get damages from the surveyors but in France that was a long and difficult process. Make sure your property does not have termites and if it does get them sentenced to death today.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately but I’ve been at the hospital day and night with my husband Andrew. The operation for colon cancer that he had went well, however, two days into his recovery he was rushed to the ICU because he stopped breathing … and ended up with pneumonia … further complications ensued but now hopefully since getting rid of many of his tubes he looks like he is finally on the mend. Fingers crossed.

Fancy a trip to Turkey?

Turkey has some breathtaking scenery and fabulous beaches as well as lots of historical interest. However, If Marmaris or Bodrum are too noisy for you with all the nightlife, then try out Icmeler. Icmeler is situated on a bay, backed by rugged pine-clad mountains sloping down to beaches and blue sea and is one of the most attractive resorts in Turkey. For a cheap holiday at a great resort why not visit Icmeler Holidays Turkey . Icmeler is the perfect starting point for any cruises you wish to take to nearby islands or historical places as it sits at the meeting point of the Aegean and Mediterranean sea. It’s well worth a visit.

I am pleased and relieved to say that Andrew’s op went well yesterday. He is still pretty much drugged to keep the pain at bay but was still anxious to read all his emails. The tumour was bigger than we first thought and therefore, it was lucky that we discovered it when we did and got it dealt with quickly. Obviously, regular check ups are now in order. i would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and support. This has helped us both stay positive.

Andrew is busy cleaning out his system for his colon operation tomorrow. He never seems to complain and is quite happy to drink the laxative potion that is prescribed. I probably feel more nauseous than he does at this moment. He’s just got such a positive attitude which really helps everyone around him. I know, if it were me in his position I would be feeling pretty sorry for myself right now .. no food, laxative and lots of trips to the toilet .. yuck.

I think that Richard and Judy’s demise was rearing it’s ugly head the day when Judy’s top flipped open at an award ceremony showing her rather frumpy bra.

I actually really enjoyed their ‘This Morning’ Show and thought that their morning format fitted their personas much better than the early evening Richard and Judy Show. However, I did used to watch the show because I used to enjoy Richard’s faux pas.

It will be interesting to see what Channel 4 puts in it’s place? Will Fern Britain fill the spot like she did with ‘This Morning’? Or will they recruit another Paul O’Grady or Nick Cotton to offer a camp variety style show? Who knows …
